MEXICO – SOCONUSCO CHAMULAPITA ORGANIC

Soconusco in southern Mexico is the birthplace of the “cacao real”, the royal cacao, consumed by the Aztec kings and priests. Sourced from smallholder farmers, this organic cacao from Soconusco has a balanced acidity, full body profile and distinct flavours of dried fruits, nuts and  several spices.

  • Fermentation: Centrally fermented, 4 to 5 days in square wooden boxes

Supply Chain

100% traceable supply chain. Cacao is processed in small-scale local fermentation centres, packed in 60 kg jute bags and shipped from the port of Veracruz.

People

Smallholder farmers benefit directly from training, standardised quality control, and higher cacao prices. The chocolate factory offers job opportunities.

Forest & Nature

Sustainable agroforestry system in symbioses with the natural environment. Organic farming methods support nature conservation. Land degradation is reversed through a large-scale reforestation project, restoring biodiversity and protecting vital water sources.
